Is Search Really Dead?
That is a question going around thanks to the new Yahoo! Search Subscriptions!
Yahoo! Search Subscriptions beta is a new way to search the subscription content that’s important to you. By partnering with publishers, Yahoo! is providing the convenience of a single place to access and find all relevant content, whether it’s generally available web content or content from your personal subscriptions. Yahoo! Search Subscriptions also saves you time with a single search that finds relevant information from multiple sources.
It’s a little like a site search feature for several sites at once. When you arrive, you’re asked to click on any of the seven sites that Yahoo! can focus your search on:
- Consumer Reports
- FT.com
- Forrester Research
- IEEE publications
- New England Journal of Medicine
- TheStreet.com
- Wall Street Journal
If you have a subscription to the sites that you’re searching, then you can proceed to those sites as you would from a typical SERP. If you don’t have a subscription to those publications, then you’ll end up on a page that says “this page only available to subscribers.”
In order to click through to an article listed on the search results page, you need to have a valid subscription that you have secured from the publisher. If you are not logged in to the publisher’s site when you click on a search result, you will be prompted for your login information. Otherwise, you will usually navigate directly to the chosen content.
You can find out more about it by following this link http://search.yahoo.com/subscriptions
Until next time,
