Top 5 Easy Optimization Techniques

In order for you webpage to achieve a good position on Google, you must do a few good on page optimization tricks. Below we’ll explain the top 5 Google optimization factors for your webpage, these are nothing new, but just as important.

For better understanding, we’ll use an example of a website that sells link exhange software. The keyphrase we’ll use is “Link Exchange Software”.

1)Page titles
The site would contain a <title> tag like this:
<title>Link Exchange Software – Software to help manage your link exchanges</title>

The title content is based on the keyword we chose earlier, the keyword should be contained at least once but recommended to be in there two to three times, also the title shouldn’t be any longer then 60 characters.

2) Heading Tags
Our “Link Exchange Software” website will have “headings” like the one below:
<H4>Put Key Words in Headings</H4>.

The headings make the browser display the text larger, makeing it different from the rest of the text. Search engines will look for and index the headings when they index the pages on your site, so our headings should ALSO contain the main key word phrases for our site, like this:

<h1>Link Exchange Software</h1>
<h2>Link Exchange Software – Manage your Link Exchanges </h2>
<h2>Link Exchange Software – Reduced Price Today</h2>

And so on through as many headings (in this case our products for sale) as we can think of that we want to include on that page. Headings like that are weighted heavily in the search engines — many of them use a formula that “likes” the keywords in headings more than elsewhere in the site. To make the heading look better you can use the code bellow:
<H1 style=”margin-bottom: 0px; font-size: 12px;”>This will make a small heading with no space after it!</H1>

3) Keyword density and frequency
The optimized page should contain text of at least 250 words, with “Link Exchange Software” occurring several times in the beginning of the text. The more text on a page the better results. Also put the keyphrase near the end of the text. You should also bold and underline your keyword a few times as well.

A good range for keyword density for a target keyword is 2% to 6%. Meaning, when you divide the number of times you used a keyword on your page by the total number of words on your page you should get a percent somewhere between 2 and 6.
4) The Picture ALT Tag
Every picture can and should  have the “ALT tag”, a small description of what is in the picture, put here the keyphrase if it’s appropriate. The description is displayed if you hold the mouse for a few seconds over the picture or the picture could not be displayed.

5) Link/anchor text
The hypertext links on “your site” usually look something like this:
<a href=”http://www.powerrankingsolutions.com/search-engine-software.html” title=”Search Engine Software”>Search Engine Software</a>

If the link points to the Search Engine Software page. When someone puts the cursor over the link, they will see what you put in the title. These “titles” for the anchor tags get indexed by the search engines. Every little bit helps! Make sure the words that you wrap the anchor tag around are keywords, too, whenever possible.
