That is a question going around thanks to the new Yahoo! Search Subscriptions!

Yahoo! Search Subscriptions beta is a new way to search the subscription content that’s important to you. By partnering with publishers, Yahoo! is providing the convenience of a single place to access and find all relevant content, whether it’s generally available web content or content from your personal subscriptions. Yahoo! Search Subscriptions also saves you time with a single search that finds relevant information from multiple sources.

It’s a little like a site search feature for several sites at once. When you arrive, you’re asked to click on any of the seven sites that Yahoo! can focus your search on:

Consumer Reports

FT.com

Forrester Research

IEEE publications

New England Journal of Medicine

TheStreet.com

Wall Street Journal

If you have a subscription to the sites that you’re searching, then you can proceed to those sites as you would from a typical SERP. If you don’t have a subscription to…

I’ve just noticed on the Google Blog that they’ve acquired JotSpot, a company that develops collaborative wiki-based applications.

JotSpot’s wiki allows you to create rich web-based spreadsheets, calendars, documents and photo galleries, It’s as easy as using a word processor — you don’t need to know HTML. Most other wikis only support plain old text.

JotSpot’s co-founder Joe Kraus says, “Our first order of business is to move JotSpot to Google’s software architecture. He announced that they have turned off new registrations. But if you’re interested, you can still sign up for their waitlist and they’ll keep you posted.” Also paying customers will no longer be billed, the JotSpot acquisition FAQ states.

Joe Kraus and Graham Spencer founded JotSpot about three years ago. This was the second time around for both of them; during the early days of the internet, they were two of the five co-founders of Excite.com.

Excite is still around; it’s…
